The Importance of Eliminating Sugar From Your Diet

When it comes to diet plans and healthy nutrition options, it can seem difficult to figure out exactly what you need to do over time regarding healthy weight loss and sustainable eating. However, it’s easier than you think to make little adjustments to your body and your workout regimen to find great success over time, and in turn, become healthier and leaner.

One of the major changes we can easily do is work on eliminating sugar from our diets. For those with a sweet tooth, of course, that may sound a bit crazy, but it’s not as crazy as you think, and it’s certainly something that has worked for a great deal of people over time as they seek to lose weight and, more importantly, keep it off for good.

But why is it so important to eliminate sugar from your diet, anyways? And what good will it do for you as you seek to become a healthier person? Let’s go over exactly what it takes to eliminate sugar and what makes it so important for your body.

Sugar = Empty Calories

Let’s face it. You’re not getting a whole lot out of the sugar you are putting in your body. Because of that, you’re giving yourself dangerous and worthless empty calories over time that could be much better used and spent in positive ways with vitamins, minerals, and other nutritious ingredients from, say, vegetables. Sugar isn’t providing any significant fuel for you, but it’s giving you the calories to pack on the pounds; which is really a lose-lose situation!

Sugar Is A Fake Energy Boost

We’ve all been at that point where we’ve had an energy drink, or a soda full of sugar, and while we may have felt an energy rush for a little while, but within hours it turns into a pretty significant energy drain leaving you wanting to take a nap. That’s no good, especially for people who need serious energy to do their jobs, or to live their lives. Sugar provides a fake energy boost that in reality drains your body of its natural processes and efficiencies, leaving you less focused, less able to concentrate, and more prone to issues and problems.

Sugar is Literally Rotting Your Teeth

Your mom and your dentist both warned you about it when you were growing up, and they are right! Sugar is quite literally robbing your enamel of its health and shine, and harming your teeth and gums the more you ingest in your body. This is very preventable.  By eliminating sugar, you’ve not only helped your weight loss goals, but also you help your teeth in producing a healthy mouth.

All in all, sugar has problems. You may find it hard to eliminate it cold turkey, of course, but stay the course over time and remain consistent in your eating plan, and you will find that once you eliminate sugar for good, the quality of your life improves dramatically in many areas.
