Your Favorite Naples Gym

Don’t be “On the Fence” – Here’s why you join a gym

  • Because home equipment doesn’t work – Lets be honest, if you could buy in from an infomercial, on DVD or in the form of a shake or pill then everyone would be in shape. People go to work to work, the store to shop, home to relax and the gym to workout! Motivation to workout is much harder when you are in your comfort zone (and the sofa is in eyesight lol). Most people make the mistake of buying home equipment and use it religiously for the first few weeks…. And then it becomes a towel rack.

  • Human Ambiance, Motivation and Support –  Surrounding yourself with people that are working out has been proven to raise the endorphins in your brain and motivate people to workout harder and longer. A group fitness class, for instance, will have a greater workout and more fun in the class when it is populated with a big crowd vs. just a few people. The support aspect is there too; if you are a beginner or someone that does not like to exercise, then this seems like a chore. However, when you are within a group of people that have the same goals as you OR perhaps have the physique you are striving for, then it will change from a 2x a week chore to a 3x-4x a week motivational outlet!

  • Stress Relief – According to the Mayo Clinic, virtually any form of exercise can act as a stress reliever — whether you’re a serious athlete or a beginner. Physical activity boosts the brain’s production of endorphins, which simply makes us feel better physically and have a brighter emotional outlook. Exercise reduces tensions in both the body and the mind, which can improve your mood and the quality of your sleep. For many people, the gym becomes a bit of sanctuary where you can turn off the phone and forget all of the troubles at work or in your personal life.

  • They’re Open and Waiting to HELP YOU! – Unless you live deep in the country, there is a gym near your home or work. If you’re serious about losing/gaining weight, building muscle and/or just getting in better shape, there’s no better time to start than right now. The longer you put it off, the more excuses you’ll come up with. If one of your goals is to rock the swim suit, you’re going to need three to six months to see the gains; it doesn’t happen overnight. If you do decide to take the plunge and join a gym, you may want to consult with your doctor, just to make sure that certain exercise programs are not going to do more harm than good. When you start, don’t try to keep up on the first day with the most in-shape person working out nearby. Go slow at the start to avoid injuries, which can discourage you from returning to the gym next week. DO NOT WAIT to use your free personal training session; this is a great tool to see just the results you have achieved from the very beginning AND you may learn a thing or 2!

  • You have the money – Do NOT say that health clubs are too expensive. The average cost of an elite health club with full amenities is about $30 a month. Chances are you will decide to clean up your eating habits when you start an exercise program, right? Well, that innocent 2-3 times a week at the fast food drive thru is costing you AT LEAST $60 a month on your fast food membership – cut it in half and you can pay for your membership and still hit the drive thru on your cheat day. How about your Starbucks membership? 1 latte per day is almost $120 a month! Soda? $1-$2.50 per day will cost you $30-$75 per month…. These are bought and consumed without thinking twice about it, but what has it done for your health?

  • You have the time – 186 hours in a week; you need 3 for an exercise program… that’s 2% of your entire week.
